Marcellin’s Blog

Racism and oppression are practical things seen in most parts of the world, no matter if it’s a first world country or a third world country. As a person born in a third world country, I was a victim of racism and oppression countless times in my life. I was bullied by local kids and my classmates because of my color, figure and my religious background. Whenever I went out and the local kids saw me, they used to call me by inappropriate names. Because of that, I had to deal with socializing issues. Even now I sometimes get anxious to socialize. School wasn’t so different for me either. It’s just that some of the teachers were part of that group too. Some teachers wouldn’t pay the same attention to me as they would to other students and they were more harsh on me. Sometimes they would give me less marks than what I deserved, compared to what others used to get. At a point I stopped caring about how people treated me based on my appearance. Maybe I had it easier but I have heard and seen cases where racism and oppression affected the victim to the point where the victim almost went crazy and had to deal with mental issues.
